Biography

Pastor Anthony Miller is a Philadelphia native and servant leader with a heart for ministry, education, and community building. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church of Rahway, New Jersey—a historic congregation committed to worship, service, and spiritual growth. In this role, he brings a vision rooted in faith, justice, and the belief that church should be both sanctuary and springboard—a place where people are nurtured, equipped, and sent to make a difference.

He began his ministry in June 2003, when he was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Shortly after, he attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he studied religion and philosophy. While at Morehouse, he remained active in campus ministry, student leadership, and mentoring programs for young men preparing for college and life beyond.

After college, he returned to Philadelphia and founded Giant Steps Leadership Academy—a college and career readiness program for minority boys. Built from the ground up, the program provided students with mentorship, academic support, and exposure to the arts and civic life. It became a trusted space for growth, leadership, and possibility.

His commitment to service has extended beyond education. Over the past two decades, Pastor Miller has organized community programs focused on financial literacy, youth development, and educational access. He has supported initiatives like soup kitchens, toy drives, and college prep workshops for underserved families, while preaching and teaching across more than 25 states.

In September 2024, he was elected as Senior Pastor-Elect of Second Baptist Church of Rahway. He preached his first sermon as Pastor-Elect on the first Sunday in November of that year and was officially installed on June 29, 2025. Since then, he has led the congregation with a focus on spiritual depth, social responsibility, and intergenerational connection. He sees pastoral leadership as both a calling and a covenant—to love people, tell the truth, and build something that lasts.

Whether in the pulpit or the community, Pastor Miller’s mission is clear: to serve, to lead, and to build. He believes in the power of faith to transform lives, and in the church’s responsibility to be both a voice of hope and an agent of change.
